The
paintings that emerge are striking. They seem to create a presence
that is larger than their actual size. These paintings draw their
viewers into a world where subtle and bright colors work together
like threads in a fine tapestry.

Donnelly's acrylic works on paper are refreshing to the eye and the
soul. Her subject matter is dream-like and reflective. The technique
she uses is a type of glazing with acryics which gives her paintings
the feel of a watercolor or print. Ms. Donnelly extracts meaning from
everyday occurrences, bringing the mundane to life. Something as simple
as moths fluttering around a light become big, invading all one's
senses. The viewer becomes immersed in her strange fantasy-scapes.

Artist Kit Donnelly has been exploring the properties of light in
her paintings for years. Her latest works, in an exhibit titled "Unfolding"
currently at Church and Maple Gallery in Burlington, seem to play
with light both on and beneath bold geometric shapes of color. With
no traditionial fiqure-ground relationship, the planes of Donnelly's
glossy acrylics or subtler watercolors seem to have a life of their
own, like something observed under a microscope.

Ms.
Donnelly's nonobjective watercolor abstractions use organic yet geometric
shapes in opaque layers.
